New User – This level is aimed at the novice user who wants to quickly become productive.
- Overview of Outlook features and capabilities (including managing tasks, appointments, contacts, meetings, notes, and reminders).
- Functional elements of the Outlook screen.
- Features and benefits of using ‘Outlook Today’ (including customising it and setting it as the default start-up view).
- Customising the Folder Pane (to suit your way of working).
- Using the inbox to manage incoming messages (including use of the Reading Pane and Message Preview).
- Sending, responding to, and forwarding messages.
- Using Folders to store and manage items.
- Working with Contacts, Address Books, and Circulation lists.
- Adding file attachments (including attaching an Outlook ‘item’).
- E-mail etiquette (common pitfalls and mistakes to avoid).
- Handling Junk Mail (including so-called ‘grey mail’).
- Using the Calendar to manage appointments and events.
- Setting up Tasks, Recurring Tasks, Reminders, and Meetings in the Calendar.
- Using the ‘ToDo’ bar to see key Appointments, Tasks, and Contacts at a glance.
- Working with Task Lists (including setting reminders).
- Using Notes to retain miscellaneous information.
- Keeping on top of e-mail (including managing large inboxes!)
