224 Youth Zone
A note from Jack
Back in 2025, at a Business West networking meeting, I bumped into fundraisers from a local charity, 224 Youth Zone, and was immediately bowled over by what they had to offer.
As someone who was born and raised in Bristol, I am very well aware of the many challenges that face young people in the city and of the many pressures that they can face that lead to crime, unemployment, mental health difficulties, isolation, or homelessness. I was lucky to have an amazing support network which helped me to succeed, but many young people in the city don’t. In many other cases, the provision for the youth of Bristol has been slowly squeezed and reduced, and youngsters increasingly lose the opportunities and support I was so lucky to have.
The work that goes on at 224 Youth Zone is inspirational in helping give young people that support network that we all know they need to flourish, but that they so rarely get.
The services they offer are of immense value to the city of Bristol. Whether it’s a safe space for young people to create things and share with others, specialized rooms for learning new skills and abilities, like in music or sport, or one-to-one support for things like employability and making the most out of opportunities, it feels like 224 have got it all covered.
On the 20th of June 2026, I was delighted to see that they had opened new premises on Hartcliffe Way, right at the centre of need in south Bristol, enabling them to help and support an ever-growing number of over 1,500 young members. With support from a diverse range of backers, 224 is being enabled to reinvest exactly where it matters, with the future of Bristol, its young people.
