What is InDesign?
Adobe InDesign is a desk top publishing package which takes page design to a new level, allowing for quick and easy creation of a wide range of documents, such as newsletters, flyers, brochures and books. InDesign lets you swiftly create professional results, incorporating text, images and graphic items from Adobe’s other products and output them reliably to print and online.
Overview of the Course
This course aims to provide a solid foundation in the use of Adobe InDesign to create documents for those who are new to the product. Emphasis will be placed on applying practical techniques whilst ensuring the user develops an efficient working style.

- Understanding the work area and finding your way around
- Setting up new documents and using guides and grids
- Creating, selecting, and transforming objects
- Applying corner effects
- Duplicating and aligning objects
- Placing and manipulating images
- Using Bridge to view and organise files
- Using colour (for fills & strokes), creating Gradient swatches and using transparency settings
- Working with text (including dealing with overflow text and linking frames)
- Creating styles for text and objects
- Working with Master Pages
- Creating special effects
- Creating and using layers
- Working with tables
- Preparing documents for press and exporting to PDF
