Aim of Course

The purpose of this course is to provide new users with the essential skills to help them use MicroStation more productively.

  • MicroStation features and capabilities
  • Overview of the MicroStation screen elements
  • Getting help
  • Opening, Closing and Saving Drawings
  • Using seed files as drawing templates for new drawings
  • Selecting elements, (including the use of the ‘Fence’ tool)
  • View controls, (including zoom and pan)
  • Working with View Windows to hold different areas of the drawing
  • Placing linear elements, (e.g. lines, arcs and circles)
  • Using drawing aids, (including snaps, locks and the grid)
  • Using AccuDraw and its shortcuts to aid drawing productivity
  • Placing polygons, including using the fill option
  • Manipulating elements with Copy, Move, Scale, Rotate and Mirror
  • Modifying elements with Extend, Trim, Chamfer, Group and Lock
  • Working with Text elements, (including Spell Check)
  • Changing element attributes such as Colour, Lines Style and Line Weight
  • Using levels and the level manager
  • Working with cells and cell libraries
  • Using the measuring tools
  • Introduction to dimensioning & hatching
  • Printing and Plotting
