Hints and Tips - Microsoft PowerPoint (2 Levels)
- Stop PowerPoint resizing text when the placeholder gets too full…
- Right Click on the 'placeholder' and select 'Format Placeholder'
- select the 'Text Box' tab and select the option to 'Resize Autoshape to fit text’
- Quickly change the presentation Template…
- Double Click on the template name in status bar, (bottom of screen)
- Use guides to assist slide layout…
- switch on or off using CTRL + G, (needs to be done via a dialog in some versions)
- move the guides by selecting and dragging them
- copy guides by holding CTRL whilst dragging them, (simply drag them back to the centre to ‘delete’ them)
- Draw ‘orthogonal’ shapes, (e.g. a perfect square or circle)…
- select the required drawing tool from the Drawing toolbar
- hold down CTRL whilst marking out the shape with the cross hairs
- Insert new slide…
- press CTRL + M, (in Normal or Slide Sorter View)
- Copy current slide, (in Slide Sorter view only)…
- Paste formats multiple times…
- select the text whose format is to be copied
- Double Click the Format Painter button, (big paint brush on the Standard toolbar)
- Click and Drag over the text that you want to adopt the new style
- press ESC to stop
- Display a black screen during a presentation…
- press B
- press B again to revert to the show
- Display a white screen during a presentation…
- press W
- press W again to revert to the show
- Pause a presentation at the current slide…
- press S
- press again to continue
- Go to a specific slide number during a presentation...
- Type the number of the slide
- Press Return
- Add annotations during a presentation...
- Press Ctrl + P
- Drag with the mouse to draw
- Press Ctrl + A to get back to an arrow cursor
- Press E to erase all annotations
